Holiday Times

Even though I am in a western country, Christmas just doesn't seem as Christmassy as at home. Maybe it is the snow, maybe it is that everyone is forced to be in the same place at the same time due to weather that makes it more nostalgic, maybe it is because I am not with my family.

Sure the streets are decorated, Myers (department store) has it's store front window decorated as "Wombat Divine", and I am spending time with good friends, but it just isn't the same. I am having a wonderful time in Melbourne despite that. It just feels more like I'm on holiday that celebrating one of the main ones during the year. Ellen and her family have graciously invited Ed and I to their house for xmas which I am really looking forward to. Will beat the unusual xmases in Japan.

I went to the JET alumni xmas party with Ellen a few weeks ago and made a new friend there. So it has been nice to spent time with her going to comedy shows and planning a trip to a goth club. So that is about it for my life here in Melbourne at the moment.

Happy Holidays to Everyone.
