Do you think is say 10 years time, if I don't actively study Japanese, will I forget how to read katakana and hiragana?

yes I do....for me, I think katakana will leave me in 2 years tops

It is really weird but I think hiragan is pretty much there to stay (well I hope so) but katakana is more temp - I think...

i know i was never great, but i could read hiragana and katakana. now i can't. I've forgotton all my japanese and when i try to say it, it sounds odd...well odder than usual! keep studying!
